The Other World ;
Chapter 2 ; The Search

"We've been searching for countless days Eiva, and there's no sign of Ted. I guess we shall give up on this search." sighed Pauline, on the verge of breaking down the moment she said "give up."

"Gee Pauline. You've to keep on searching and never give up! Where's your motivative spirit that taught me to keep on trying no matter what the outcomes would be?" I tried to find encouraging words to at least comfort Pauline.

Even though Pauline looks soft on the inside, she is actually a very motivated and optimistic girl.
Poor Pauline, she must love Ted very much to allow her true persona to be over-ruled.
She, who used to be so sporty in everything, now becomes one who does not wish to be involved in anything.
She, who used to be so chatty, changed to become a quiet individual.

It now seems to her that everything around her is monotonous and incomplete.

Love hurts for Pauline, for she loves Ted a lot but didn’t have the chance to confess her love for him.
The true feelings she had towards Ted.

No, not friendship's Love.
No! Neither is it Kinship's Love.
But it's Relationship's Love; Love so strong & deadly that one can be over the moon or be buried deep down, under the earth's core.

“Pauline! Pauline!! There he is! Can you see Ted?! He’s sitting by the beach!” I nudged Pauline by the shoulder.

“See! I told you not to be so pessimistic about stuffs! Let’s go and greet him then! I shall scream at the top of my lungs at his ears as a form of punishment for him to ignore us despite giving him countless of calls and messages! Let’s hurry!”

I dashed like a flash of lightning and suddenly, Pauline called out to me:

“Evia! Come back! What do you think you’re doing?! That’s not Ted! I know it’s not him! Come baaaaack!”

“Huh? What do you mean he’s not Ted?” I asked, puzzled.

“Didn’t you see that there’s a cat beside ‘Ted’? The real Ted keeps a dog, not cat! Mind you!”

“But honestly this guy there looks just like Ted! I’m sorry Pauline. I didn’t notice this difference. I only had thoughts of Ted’s appearances and his hangouts. I guess I didn’t notice this small difference afterall. I’m really sorry Pauline.” I said, remorsefully.

“What?! Small difference?! How could you say that?! SMALL DIFFERENCE?! Do you know that no matter how big or small the differences are, THEY ARE NOT TED! NOR DET! OR BET OR WHATEVER!!!!!”

“I’m really sorry Pauline. I didn’t mean to raise your hopes too high suddenly and make it disappear in the blinking on an eye. I’m really sorry. Serious.” I said, thinking of the words that just came out of my mouth without much thinking if it would hurt Pauline’s feelings.
I guess that I had to watch my words the next time I wanted to speak.

“Notice his hair Evia, how can Ted’s hair colour be reddish-purple when his hair is actually maroon? I’m utterly sure that we’ve found the wrong person…” Pauline said pointing towards the direction of his hair.

Without a thought, Pauline left the beach and started to cry.
Crying on why she hasn’t been able to find Ted after weeks of continuous search.
And also crying for she has just lost her cool and flared at me, for I knew that she was too emotionally involved in finding Ted that she tends to be more agitated by trivial matters such as the egg she cooked got burnt and she would go crying at how useless she is and start condemning herself.

As she walked and wept, I took her hand and reassured her “I’m sure Ted’s gonna be alright. I’m sure we’ll be able to see Ted, smiling beamingly at us soon!”
